As you probably know, a true recycling program cannot be carried out in St. Augustine due to insufficient transportation to and from the coast. This unfortunate situation comes at a cost to our environment and town. For this reason, the Secondary 5 Entrepreneurship & Art/Multimedia class have decided to come up with their own version of a recycling program, called the “ProjectR”.
Our recycling program will encourage a “cleanlier” approach to living. We will do this by:
- Promoting awareness about our environment and our garbage disposal through our class website, info newsletters and community displays
- Encouraging people to use their recyclables & trash in different ways, such as:
- Incorporating this initiative with our current school house color system by rewarding points for requested recyclables from home
- Hosting a community-wide flea market where one’s trash may become someone else’s treasure!
- Using recyclables to create pieces of art in our art/multimedia class and displaying our accomplishments in a year-end exhibition
- Participating in the organization of the “Earth Day” community clean-up.
We hope that you will support us in our efforts in making our town a cleaner place and take a step in the right direction towards a more environmentally sustainable future.
